Are you smarter than an 11 year old!?

Most Fridays, we do some Maths 'Word Problems'.  Here is a selection of some of them from last Friday....see how you compare to an 11 year old!!

1. Bob made 148 sandwiches to share with his friends.  He bought 75 bottles of fizzy pop.  He put 4 sandwiches in each tin.  How many tins was he able to fill?

2. To encourage interest in cycling, 13 companies sponsored a race.  The race was due to be 55km long.  Each company has donated €952.  How much money was donated to the race?

3. Eoin decided to close his comic book store, so he is selling some of his 8,563 comic books.  He now has 5,259 left so how many has he sold?

4. A large company is hosting an international conference. So far, a total of 523 attendees have registered, including 400 from Ireland. If each attendee pays €32, how much money is the large company making from the conference?

5. A school is going to a concert.  There are 354 children in the school and 42 teachers.  They are going by bus.  Each bus can hold 24 people.  How many buses are needed for the trip?

Answers will be posted later!!
